Constructions assemblies

For a long time, our team has been thinking about how to work with structural compositions in our projects.

We have spent hundreds of hours researching and discussing this topic. Even two houses standing next to each other usually have a different composition according to the preferences and budget of the builders.

Companies that produce houses that look the same at first glance may prefer a different composition of building structures.

And a thousand kilometers away, the situation can be completely different (climate, availability of materials, local customs, the creditworthiness of builders and their preferences).

In the end, we had to answer two fundamental questions: what service do we actually want to deliver at LEVA and who is our customers / visitor ?

And we have completely changed the way we think about structural compositions in our projects.

In the  BILL OF MATERIALS sheets (BOM) you can now find very general names of the structural elements of individual parts of the house, with an example of the material and its thickness.

Our projects usually have several variants of facade structures designed - at least always contact and ventilated.

Each of these compositions follows the basic rules of installation / implementation and these are reflected in the LEVA project BOM.

So, for example, for the contact structure of buildings made of CLT panels, you have the following items listed in general terms:

  • GLASS TEXTILE MESH
  • INSULATION LAYER 1
  • INSULATION LAYER 2
  • PENETRATING PRIMER, etc.

The layer thickness and an example of a specific product are listed for each item,

Because you, our customer / builder, are primarily interested in the consumption of individual layers, which for insulation and related facade materials is most often stated in area measurements (sq.m / sq. ft ).

It is then up to you which composition you will implement according to your preferences and budget. When choosing your own composition, you cannot avoid differences, but the practice of our customers shows that the deviation in material consumption is minimal.

If you maintain the layer thicknesses, the report will also contain the volume values of the given item.

What is essential in the composition of structures is their thermal resistance in watt per meter-kelvin (W/(m⋅K)), which has a fundamental impact on the economy of the building.

Today, of course, you can find countless calculators that will instantly calculate the total thermal resistance of the composition of the structure when you enter individual items.

It will then not be a problem to choose a suitable composition according to local standards, the requirements of local authorities and your financial capabilities.
