Hollow concrete formwork blocks stacked dry, threaded with steel rebar and filled with concrete to form a solid, monolithic wall. A modular, predictable build that goes up fast with off-the-shelf materials — and the most self-build-friendly way to a permanent in-ground pool. Available with an insulating EPS block option for heated pools.

Best for:

• Self-build and DIY projects with standard, widely available materials
• Budget-conscious builds wanting a permanent concrete shell
• Rectangular and orthogonal layouts that follow the block module
• Predictable, step-by-step construction without specialist equipment
• Energy-efficient heated pools (EPS insulated-formwork option)

Less suitable for: Fully freeform organic curves, sharply irregular footprints, projects where a seamless sprayed shell is specifically required.

2 GUNITE POOL

Concrete sprayed under pressure (shotcrete) over a dense steel rebar cage, forming one continuous monolithic shell with no joints. The premium, no-compromise method — it follows almost any shape you can draw and ages into a structure that lasts for decades.

Best for:

• Freeform and fully custom shapes, curves and contours
• High-end residential pools and statement landscape designs
• Vanishing-edge and overflow systems needing a precise, seamless shell
• Irregular or sloping sites where a rigid one-piece structure excels
• Maximum long-term durability and structural strength

Less suitable for: DIY builds without spraying equipment and a crew, the tightest budgets, and the very fastest installs.
