1 MASONRY KITCHEN (AAC BLOCK)

Lightweight aerated‑concrete blocks laid on a thin‑bed mortar, then reinforced at the corners, skimmed and painted. The classic solid built‑in outdoor kitchen — easy to shape and finished as one smooth rendered surface.

Best for:

• Solid, permanent built‑in kitchens
• DIY builders — blocks cut and shape with a hand saw
• A smooth rendered finish in any colour or tile
• Good thermal mass and heat tolerance around the cooking zone

Less suitable for: Movable or modular units, very fast weekend installs, sites without a flat, load‑bearing slab.

2 REINFORCED BLOCK KITCHEN (LOST FORMWORK)

Hollow formwork blocks dry‑stacked and bonded, threaded with steel rebar and core‑filled with concrete. The strongest, most rigid build — effectively a small reinforced concrete wall under the finish.

Best for:

• Maximum strength and rigidity — heavy stone worktops, large appliances
• Long runs and big U‑shaped layouts
• Exposed, windy or demanding sites
• Build‑and‑forget, decades of durability

Less suitable for: Tight budgets, instant installs (concrete needs curing), pure DIY without concrete handling.

3 TIMBER FRAME KITCHEN (SLATTED)

A standard 2×4 timber frame clad with slats and topped with a worktop. The lightest, fastest build with a warm, natural wood look — assembled from off‑the‑shelf lumber.

Best for:

• A warm, natural timber aesthetic
• Lightweight builds — decks, balconies, raised terraces
• Fast DIY assembly with standard lumber and basic tools
• Covered or partly sheltered outdoor areas

Less suitable for: Fully exposed wet climates without regular sealing, very heavy stone tops without extra reinforcement, tight clearances around open‑flame appliances.
